Day 1 : Leaving Columbia

We left a little later than I had anticipated; about 5 PM. It was a hectic afternoon of last minute cramming and ditching of items. A few things including all of our clothes had to be left behind and mailed to us later. After saying our goodbyes we went to the Break Time on Providence, filled up our tanks, got on at Exit 127, and drove away from our Columbia home.
Which is the highest priced item; the atlas, the glasses, or the hat?
As I drove down I-70 West I felt scared and unready, but I knew I had everything I would need. In preparation for our move I had made 3 key purchases. The first was a 2005 road atlas for obvious reasons. The second was a cheap pair of sunglasses with thick, comfortable, plastic frames and 99% UV protection for the late afternoon portions of the drive. The third was a bit of a surprise even to myself, a St. Louis Cardinals baseball cap, which I contribute to some subconscious desire to hold on to a piece of my home state. Armed now with these three items, a Lime Coke, and the "I am Charlotte Simmons" audiobook I was on my way. Staring through my newly acquired glasses at my last Missouri Sunset, for at least a while, I was suprised to find solace in knowing it would not be my last.

We decided to call it quits at Omaha, about an hour and a half short of our goal. Both Amanda and I were already exhausted from the day packing and previous night camping. When we were settled in to our Best Western Suite for the night we were dismayed to discover our free wireless internet not to be available. I had planned to update daily during our move, but that sadly would have to wait. As I lay falling asleep I realized that I had not eaten all day.

See they're strawberries.
Another Startling Observation "Raisins would taste better if they were made out of strawberries."
