The Plan

During early contemplation of our 1,828 mile move Westward we realized a daunting problem. We had to do something with 7 years worth of accumulated crap. At first we thought maybe, just maybe, hiring a moving company, or even just a truck, would be anywhere in the realm of reasonable, but no. We quickly decided our best option was to give back, give away, sell and store about 50% of our stuff, including most of our major furniture items. The bed, couch, desk, pictures, drawers, and shelves all gone with the hope of finding suitable replacements once we arrive. Some friends who are moving to Portland, OR have offered to take and store a few items with their U-haul in exchange for our couch. The rest will be crammed into the the Corolla; along with Amanda, Cringer and Ramona ; and the Caravan, along with myself and two sugar gliders. It'll be interesting to say the least.
15% of yard sale patrons just like to handle other people's stuff.
In planning the route we tried to evenly distribute the mileage, while allowing for time to visit certain points of interest along the way. Day 1 will be a short sprint to the hotel due to the undoubtable last hoorah the night before.

Presidents Mountin'
Did you know that Mount Rushmore is unfinished? Lesser known for his Robert E. Lee monument and devotion to the Confederacy, Gutzon Borglum died before his full vision could be realized. Borglum's original design included the president's full busts, a lot of reach around and a cleverly placed head of Ulysses S. Grant.
